India's industrial mineral production is geographically concentrated in a few key states, each with distinct mineral specialisations.

Rajasthan is India's mineral heartland, accounting for the largest share of industrial mineral output. The state produces talc (Udaipur, Bhilwara), calcite and calcium carbonate (Udaipur, Rajsamand), feldspar (Ajmer, Bhilwara), dolomite (Nagaur), marble and stone, and wollastonite (Sirohi). The concentration of multiple minerals in a single state makes Rajasthan the most efficient sourcing hub for buyers who need multiple minerals.

Gujarat is India's second most important mineral state for industrial applications. Significant calcite and calcium carbonate production occurs around Amreli, Bhavnagar, and Junagadh. Silica sand is mined in several districts. Gujarat's port infrastructure — especially JNPT, Mundra, and Kandla — makes it highly competitive for mineral export and import logistics.

Odisha is the leading state for metallic minerals (iron ore, chromite, bauxite) but also produces significant quantities of dolomite, quartzite, and industrial minerals. The state accounts for over 40% of India's total mineral production by value.

Andhra Pradesh is the primary source of India's barytes production and is also significant for feldspar and mica. The Cuddapah basin is one of the world's most important baryte-producing regions.

Jharkhand produces mica, kaolin, and feldspar, and is historically important for India's mica export industry. Regulatory improvements in the state's mining sector have attracted fresh investment in recent years.

For sourcing efficiency, most B2B buyers find that Rajasthan-based suppliers offer the best combination of product range, processing capability, and domestic logistics connectivity — with straightforward access to rail and road freight to major manufacturing hubs including Ahmedabad, Mumbai, Pune, Delhi, and Chennai.

Understanding these regional dynamics helps procurement teams evaluate supplier claims, plan supply chain logistics, and build resilience through geographic diversification.
